Can I trade high-impact / red folder news?
Yes, trading during high-impact news is allowed on NowFunded accounts, but restrictions apply depending on the account type.
1-Step and 1-Step Pro Accounts
For 1-Step and 1-Step Pro accounts, traders are allowed to hold positions during news events and over the weekend. However, trades must not be opened or closed within 2 minutes before or 2 minutes after a high-impact news release.
This restriction applies to all order types, including:
manual entries and exits
pending orders
stop loss orders
take profit orders
If a trade is opened or closed inside the restricted news window, it may be treated as a rule violation during the evaluation phase. On funded accounts, any profit generated from trades executed within that restricted period may be removed during payout review.
If profits from restricted news trades make up more than 30% of the total profit share, the payout may be rejected, the profit share may be forfeited, and the account may be reset to its starting balance. Repeated violations may also result in account termination.
Example:
If a high-impact news event takes place at 5:00 PM UTC, then no trade activity is allowed from 4:58 PM to 5:02 PM UTC.
Instant Accounts
For Instant Accounts, traders are allowed to hold positions during news events, but weekend holding is not allowed.
Trades must not be opened or closed within 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after a high-impact news release.
This rule applies to all order types, including:
manual entries and exits
pending orders
stop loss orders
take profit orders
Any profits generated from trades opened or closed within the restricted news window may be deducted during payout review. If profits from restricted news trades exceed 30% of the trader’s total profit share, the payout may be denied, the profit share may be forfeited, and the account may be reset back to its initial balance. Repeated breaches may lead to account closure.
Example:
If a high-impact news event takes place at 5:00 PM UTC, no trade activity is allowed from 4:52 PM to 5:08 PM UTC.
Important notes
USD high-impact news affects all trading pairs
Non-USD high-impact news only affects instruments linked to that specific currency
Non-USD high-impact news can also affect indices linked to that currency
Examples
CHF high-impact news or speeches only apply to CHF-related pairs
EUR high-impact news or speeches only apply to EUR-related pairs
USD high-impact news or speeches apply to all pairs
EUR high-impact news also applies to GER30 / FRA40 / ITA40
GBP high-impact news also applies to UK100
Speeches
The same restrictions apply to central bank speeches and similar high-impact events. The restricted period begins before the speech starts and ends after the speech has finished.
For example, on an Instant Account, traders must not open or close trades 8 minutes before the speech begins and 8 minutes after it ends.
